This funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland identified and analysed potential circularity sectors that Zambia could prioritise. The three sectors identified after a sector assessment were; waste, manufacturing and agriculture. The study then developed concrete business opportunities for each of the sectors.
Additionally, the study explored how Finnish and Zambian stakeholders could collaborate on these business opportunities. The study concluded by providing important recommendations, formulated with the aim to guarantee an enabling environment for exploiting the opportunities in Zambia.

The bigger picture
The Zambia Circular Economy Market Study (2023) was delivered under the Accelerated Growth for SMEs (AGS) Programme, funded by Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs. From 21 opportunities across municipal solid waste, manufacturing and agriculture, ten were prioritised on economic potential, SME interest, enabling ecosystems, environmental impact and inclusivity — together representing an estimated US$712 million opportunity for Zambian businesses.
