BUGS Africa explores how black soldier fly technology can support organic waste management in Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia and Uganda. Africa Circular leads the assignment recorded for the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC).
The work covers practical guidance for operators, separation of organic waste at source and the integration of insect-based resource recovery into policy. It combines research, interviews and consultation with stakeholders.
The initiative is intended to support resource recovery and livelihoods, including opportunities for women and young people. The project description sets out these objectives; it does not provide measured results for avoided emissions or employment.
